Ilka de Gast is one of the more active recording artists today. Shortly after releasing an entire album, she returns to the studio and begins releasing prolific tracks to an ever-growing audience eager to listen.
“Angel” takes flight with her gorgeous vocals and the guitar and
Native American flute of Tommy Graven.
The result is simply stunning.
The music of “Angel” resonates with me on a profound spiritual
and earthly level. Ilka’s vocals carry a spiritual essence, while the flute’s
earthy tones ground the composition. This interplay always captivates me.
The phrase “As above, so below” came to mind, as it means what
happens in the spiritual or heavenly realm is reflected in the earthly or physical
realm, and vice versa.
Each of us has an angel, a guiding presence, whether we’re aware
of it or not. I’ve
felt this truth deeply, especially in moments of near-death experiences. These
experiences have shaped my understanding of “Angel” and its profound message.
In the end, Ilka sings “I hear you singing, I hear your song.” She acknowledges her angel at that moment. That was an excellent way to end the track, and it held a lot of meaning for me, and I hope it will for everyone who listens.
